About 1st Fordhouses Scout Group.png

1st Fordhouses Scout Group was established in 1975. The Scout Association has a clear purpose “to help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities”.

The Scout Group is led by a Group Scout Leader, who will make every effort to ensure that each Section in the Group will have an adequate Leadership team and the development of the young people is co-ordinated as they move through scouting.

The Scout Group is supported by the Group Executive Committee.  The purpose of the Executive committee is to administer the Groups funding, maintain its property and equipment and to help raise funds.

The Scout Group charges subscriptions to cover the cost of the equipment and the upkeep of the meeting place.  There is also an annual membership fee paid to the headquarters for the day to day running of The Scout Association, which includes insurance for all members.  Subs are currently £20 per half term and this includes the annual membership fee.

Gift Aid

The Group is now able to recover income tax on any donation provided a declaration has been signed.  This means that for every £20 that is paid to us via donations or subscriptions, we can claim another £5 from the Government. This is essential for the running of the Group.
